Section 05 · Comparisons

Comparisons and material selection

Comparison is only useful if the task is the same and the criteria are clear. The section shows what data changes the decision and when calculation or testing is required.

Comparison rule

You cannot compare materials based on one advantage. First, geometry, load, mass, process, cost of complete manufacturing, inspection, repair and delivery risks are recorded. Then the valid options are compared.

Frequently asked questions

Why is there no universal winner in the comparison?

Because the criteria and limitations of a particular part change the feasible solution.

Is it possible to compare only the price of the material?

No. We need the cost of the full cycle: waste, equipment, process, processing, control and risk of defects.

Is a property table enough?

The table helps select options, but does not automatically take into account geometry, connections and manufacturing process.

Can materials be combined?

A hybrid design can be considered if the purpose of each component and the interfaces are defined and verifiable.

When is a test needed?

When the risk of the task, new geometry or lack of confirmed data does not allow justifying the solution only with calculations and documentation.

Need a choice for a specific task?

Submit dimensions, load, quantity and available files. CORDTEX will clarify the missing data and return with the relevant material or production route.
