Mesh is not equal to fabric
The mesh has an open structure with pronounced gaps between reinforcement elements. The fabric forms a more continuous web with a different weave and laying behavior. These forms can be used in different tasks and are not automatic replacements for each other.
The technical function of the mesh may be related to local reinforcement, layer retention, formation of an open structure, or other design-defined role. There is no general purpose that is the same for all materials and cells.
If the request specifies only "carbon mesh", the specialist still needs the composition, structure, dimensions, load direction, matrix, position in the structure and result criterion.

Start with layer function
Describe why an open structure is needed in a design. Then determine where the layer is located, how the load is transferred, what it comes into contact with, and how it is integrated into the product. If the function can be performed by fabric or other material, the options should be compared using the same criteria.
For a structural problem, the mesh is evaluated as part of a specimen or node. You cannot transfer the indicator of a single element to the entire system. For the technological function, ease of installation, stability of geometry and behavior in the selected matrix are checked.
